Biography:

Dr. Shimaa Afify is a consultant endoscopist and lecturer of Hepatology, gastroenterology, GI endoscopy, liver transplant & infectious diseases at the NHTMRI. She has more than 18 years’ experience in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. She received her PhD (M.D) at HCV management and drugs side effects from Cairo University, 2019. She is appointed as scientific lecturer (fellow) at the GOTHI in Cairo, Egypt. She graduated from Harvard Medical Schools (HMS) in CSRT medical research course, 2020 and T2T medical education course, 2021. Currently She is member of ESGE and an active working member of the Equity and Diversity group affiliated to ESGE as she is interested in women empowerment in medicine as well she is a member of the WIE Association . She has many publications in high ranked international peer reviewed journals whit H index of 8. She is also a high ranked reviewer in GIE journal. She won the grant of WEO for the Emerging Stars in Endoscopy and spent 10 days course in leadership in 2022 in Munich, Germany. She Spent 3 month of endoscopy training in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals in 2019 in Sheffield, UK. She had been an active participant in more than 50 different national and international congresses (including BSG, UEGW, ESGE, APAZL) with oral and poster presentations. She speaks fluently Arabic and English and good German
